Tiger desktop rotation

Apple’s new operating system Tiger includes a long awaited feature. You can now rotate the desktop by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. This means that full size newspaper softproofing is now possible using a 30 inch monitor.

The picture below demonstrates what is now possible.

There is an updated version of this post available here showing an actual rotated desktop under Tiger.

although display rotation is possible on macs with “coreimage” comaptible graphics cards, the image on that display is not rotated - the page is rotated 90 degress counterclockwise and the display itself is rotated 90 degrees clockwise.

look at the Close, Minimize and Zoom window control in a vertical orientation in the *upper right* corner of the screen, as opposed to the upper left, in a horizontal orientation!!

I could have done that with Acrobat a year ago!

That image was only meant to be there as an indication of what the desktop rotation can be used for. I will post some images with the real desktop rotation once I have some time.
