If you want to run Blackmagic or Megarip as a service on a windows box then it is very simple. This will prevent the need to log into the windows machine allowing you to connect from another client once the server is up and running. To do this follow the steps below.
1. Make sure that the software is installed and will run normally. Then quit the server.
2. Select Settings -> Control Panel -> Scheduled Task
3. Select Add Scheduled Task
4. Select Next

5. Choose Browse from the next window.

6. Navigate to the installation folder and then in the bin folder select the bmserver.exe file

7. Choose to run the task “When my computer starts”.

8. It will default to the user that you are currently logged in as. Enter the password for the user.

9. Select the “Open advanced Properties” and click finish.

10. Choose the ‘Settings’ tab and un-check (turn off) the “Stop task if it runs for” check box. This defaults to stop the task after 72 hours.

11. Reboot the computer and test it.
Once the computer is back to the log in stage the server should start. It may take a minute or two to be fully operational and be able to respond to Client request. This time varies depending on the number of items you have in the database. Run a client from another computer and se if you can see it in the “connect to server” dialogue. If the service has not started go back to the Scheduled tasks folder as there is usually some indication as to why the service did not start. (Make sure you have the explorer set to View details).
